Grass Types
Choosing Your Sod Type
We hear a lot of advertising these days from national companies, claiming to offer new grass varieties that possess a ground-breaking technology or characteristic. It is nearly impossible for the average consumer to differentiate between what is real and what is just creative marketing.
We grow grasses based on their proven performance in our local climate, not on national marketing claims. Over the years we have tested numerous new varieties that, due to inferior performance, we never brought to market. You can be assured that the grasses we do offer have been chosen to perform well here in America’s heartland.

Buffalograss is a warm-season, native turfgrass variety that is known for its superior drought tolerance. It has fine, soft blades, with a medium bluish-green color. Our Buffalograss shines in hot, dry conditions, and is also cold-tolerant for our climate. It is often used as a lawn turfgrass where native species selection is important. Its drought tolerance also makes it an ideal grass for low maintenance areas, such as hillsides, roadsides, and native landscapes. Under no mowing, Buffalograss maintains an approximate four to six inch growing height. Limited availability. click to learn more
